The Summer Garden is an old park that witnessed the most spectacular moments of St Petersburg's early history. In 1704 Peter the First founded his summer residence in a new capital - the Summer Palace. The Park around it was laid out in French style and decorated with marble Italian Baroque sculptures that can be seen to this day. The Summer Garden is surrounded with beautiful wrought iron grilles. Open Summer 8am to 10pm, Winter 8am to 8pm, closed for last 2 weeks in April. Location: Dvortsovaya nab.
